BIO Morgan & Phelan began performing
together in 1976. During their 20 years together they toured from Boston to
Brisbane playing at festivals, concert series, schools, colleges and on radio and
television. In the 1980s they were featured performers with Connecticut's
Directory of Touring Artists.
An invitation to perform at World Expo '88 took Morgan & Phelan to Australia
where they performed over 70 concerts for international audiences. Morgan & Phelan produced four recordings of original music and a cassette of American songs and stories for children. One of their songs was chosen to appear on the June '93 Best of Eugene issue of the Fast Folk Magazine, a song-writer's showcase out of New York City. Two of Peggy's songs were also recognized with a Semi-Finalist Award for "Ballad of the Spinning Wheel" from the Great American Song Contest and an Honorable Mention for "Fisherman's Song" from the John Lennon Song Contest.
During the 1980s, Morgan & Phelan introduced thousands of children to American folk music and stories through their school performances and workshops, family concerts and museum programs.
Morgan & Phelan In Concert "As performers
they are empowering, bold and daring. They provoke thought and discovery
from within. They give us hope and belief, stirring a remarkable passion."
"A clear
soprano and a smooth and soothing alto voice blend in beautiful harmonies.
Both women are accomplished musicians. Peggy Morgan on guitar, dulcimer and
banjo and Bette Phelan on guitar, dulcimer, mandolin and keyboard." "Morgan &
Phelan's original songs were gentle, inspiring and totally involving. Their
performance skills are as strong as their musical talents and the message
they convey."
Hundreds of public and private schools throughout the Northeast and the Northwest. |
